About Us
About Us
At our core, we believe in a safer marine mooring and towing world. In everything we do, we believe in thinking differently & challenging the status quo, supporting the marine industry in responding to new safety guidelines such as SOLAS & MEG4.
Our goal is to help protect lives in the marine world by transforming marine rope safety. By providing unique, innovative rope sensors and data for the growing demand of safer towing and mooring ropes worldwide, we work with all parties ( operators, suppliers, regulators and insurers) to set a new standard and confidence making the marine world a safer workplace.

Our Story
Peter spent his early career in the world of marine engineering in the oil and gas sector, solving problems above and below the sea for others. But he wanted to do more than just help others in engineering service, he wanted to deliver a disruptive innovation based on cutting edge sensor technologies , something that was a tough challenge but if successful would bring a lasting difference to the world, and save lives.
Pete’s early work was in concept design and development with a focus on acoustic imaging, electronic and software developments and the use of data to make better critical decisions in the marine environment. And so with a passion to use sensors to help measure difficult things, Pete set about designing early prototypes in 2018 with a simple ambition to create a robust and accurate in rope sensor that would radically change the future of marine rope safety, protecting lives, through the use of real-time rope tension sensor data to drive a more informed decisions.
In 2023 sureline (the rope sensor) was granted its principle patent and completed rigorous test-bed trials and some early sea-trials. In 2024 sureline will embark on more extensive sea trials with leading global mooring and towing industry partners, suppliers and regulators to work together in bringing sureline to market.
Why Us
We are all aware that working in the maritime industry requires us all to manage ‘safety’ as a prime responsibility and is a key area of interest whether we are towage operators, pilots, port & harbour authorities, insurers, accident investigators or manufacturers of vessels or marine equipment.
In January 2024, the SOLAS regulations (II-1/3-8) came into force offering new guidance in monitoring and reporting on marine rope integrity, and recently covered by DNV, read more about it here.
So it is timely that ‘sureline’ a pen sized rope tension sensor offers a step change in safety to allow for crew to have greater confidence in the operation of winches and integrity of towing or mooring ropes.
Our ambition is simple: that ‘sureline’ becomes a safety feature for all operators in the marine industry that utilise marine ropes.
